As you all know petrol went up in price today.

One company justified their price rise by saying,

Mobil spokesman Peter Thornbury said his company's 5c per litre was sparked by other companies increasing prices.

"The market moved and we responded to moves in the marketplace. I think other companies had changed their prices and we moved to maintain competitive price.

"They moved ahead of us," he said.
Interesting. I would have thought that to be competitive you would bring your price DOWN to match your competitors or to become a price leader, than raise your price because your competitors raised theirs and so remain competitive.

Now I wonder when house sellers are going to do the same thing?
