I emailed the email to trade me (after ages trying to find an email address). Their reply:

          Dear Tan,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Unfortunately it's not legitimate and I'm very sorry you've been targeted in this manner.
Here are a few additional tips:

          - Never pay money overseas or by Western Union, Money Gram, PayPal or any other instant payment method.
          - If you have concerns over a trader's authenticity please contact Trade Me immediately on 0800 334 332 or forward the email to [email protected]. Our team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The 0800 number is a service improvement.
Didn't it used to be 0900?

I suspect that the 0800 number is for reporting abuse only - if you want help, or to know why your account credit isn't showing, it's still 0900.

Look what i just got! Again! I don't even use trade me much so not sure if that is where they got their list from. Today I also got about 6 from fake ASB telling me they had disabled my access (which they hadn't). Makes a change from fake Kiwibank and fake courier ones I guess

                Dear Member,

We were unable to verify your credit card billing address.

One possible problem could be that you entered a different address to the one where you receive your bills for this card. If this is the case, the solution is as easy as entering the correct billing address.

                Is your address spelled correctly?

TradeMe verifies the billing address with your credit card provider. Please be sure that you have entered the address exactly as it is printed on your billing statements.

                Have you moved recently?

If so, be sure that you are entering the exact address where you receive your billing statements for this card.
Is your home phone number accurate?

Check that the home phone number we have on file for you is correct.

Does your credit card issuer have more than one address on file for you?

If your bank has two addresses on file for you, be sure to enter the address your credit card issuer considers your primary address. This address may be different from the address where you receive your statements.

Is this a new credit card?

If so, be sure you have activated your card with your credit card provider before trying to add it to your account.

How do I fix this problem?

Click here and complete the renew form with your current information.

Why does TradeMe verify my credit card billing address?

In order to protect our customers, TradeMe is constantly working to ensure the integrity of our payment network and to eliminate the threat of fraud. Verifying credit card billing addresses is just one of the stringent checks we make so that none of our members fall victim to fraud.

                Yours sincerely,

Eeek. Don't do this. Never click on a link in a phishing email. Opening the link might be enough to let it give you a virus.

If that was pasted verbatim, I wonder how many
                    notice the tradem.com vs trademe.com?

                      It was verbatim.

One, I'll never do it again I promise, but you have to try everything once
