  • Be Happy, Be Wealthy

One of the most interesting philosophical questions about money is whether having more money makes you a happier person. It can be argued that the old adage ‘money doesn’t buy happiness’ is something that was propounded by those with no money as a validation for their monetary status. In other words, if you have no money, one way of feeling better about that is to say that you are happier than those who have a lot of money.

The main 3 thing about money for me is:

Money can buy you comfort, education, and in some cases good/Better health care.

Money allows me to employ people to do the jobs I hate doing.

I don't disagree with the saying "money can't buy you happiness", I just want the opportunity to prove it right.

Money can't buy you happiness in the sense that it can't buy you friends, love or family which are some of the all important things in life!! But it sure can make life easier for a person! WIthout money you couldn't buy a home, go travelling, buy things, try new adventures and so on which are some of the things that make me happy.

I'd much rather be unhappy with money than unhappy and broke.

Money can buy what makes you happy. I'd rather be rich and miserable than poor and miserable too. Some people are just miserable, anyway. Money allows you to make others happy.

Money has a big influence in people's happiness. It doesn't necessarily makes us happier but makes our lives less stressful.

We need to define what happiness means before drawing any conclusions. In fact what humans want and need is fulfillment - a sense of belonging, achievement, and the respect of their fellows. From that arises happiness.

It certainly is not a function of money. I learned this many years ago on my OE when the happiest and most generous people I met were the Sudanese. Poorest country in Africa but the people shared with me whatever they had. The Turkish were similarly poor and generous.

I've known a few wealthy people over the years and some of them - only some - were unremittingly bitter and hard.
