    Support never pointless!

It is somewhat comforting to know I won't be the only one suffering a low-grade financial headache through the weekend and beyond (until I fix it, literally).

    So helpful.

Last Friday, Westpac's economic report said:

    Fixed vs. floating: Despite their
apparent reluctance, we expect that the
RBNZ will cut the OCR further in coming
months, and commit to keeping rates
low for a long time, as their hopes for a
strong rebound in growth are dashed.
    Although term funding pressures are
leading to some upward pressure on
longer-term fixed rates at the moment,
we don’t think there’s any urgency to
lock into long-term fixed mortgage rates.

I don't pretend to understand why there is suddenly a bum-rush (are 'we' causing it by rushing to fix??), or why Jo-public have not really seen any more substantial benefits to the OCR drop - but it is irksome in the space of a week to be forced into panic-mode, all the while having savings at a measly 3.25%

    Oh for a crystal ball!

Somewhere on one of these threads people have hinted they think it's all a ploy....grab people's business...cause a panic etc.... the net then closes once they've caught everyone, and rates go down again.
The cynic and conspiracy theorist in me can't help but wonder if that level of game-playing is going on? Surely not?

    /end, slightly pointless post.

    Best,
