Tenancy applicant with personal finance under credit report

    Hi All,

We are currently looking at renting out our property during this challenging time with xmas and New Year coming up. We have this tenancy applicant whom is very keen to take on the property, whom earn 6 figure salary ($100000) as a manager for a company. Her landlord reference check is all good. When we carried out the credit check on Centrix it alerted us that the applicant has taken out personal loans for a purchase . Will this be a concern?

    Thank you

    Hi investornewbie,

Many people have personal loans - it could be for a car for example. A bad credit score due to missed repayments would be a red flag.

When you say "her landlord reference check is all good" - did you speak to the Landlord and ask the questions on duration, rent payments, and why she is leaving or left?

Would you normally get more than one LL ref? How did you confirm her employment and income?

Keys - a PTer on here - and others can let you know what to do going forward.

    cheers,

    Donna

      Trust your gut feeling.

A personal finance record, in isolation, raises no flags for me.
