I might move to NZ, Auckland and I was researching housing options. It seems like apartments are very costly in Auckland. I also searched airbnb's and they are cheaper. Can I rent airbnb's for long term like 6 months. Will the rates for airbnb's change after 6 months. Does any one know of cheap apartments near Auckland?

I don’t live in Auckland and the terms of each are set by the owners who may or may not agree to your conditions. NZ has just opened up to international tourists so prices may rise now. People may have reduced prices due to covid but things may be getting back to normal prices. You could also try bookabach.co.nz and holidayhouses.co.nz. Some people may agree to a long-term stay especially if you pay utilities too and do your own cleaning and provide your own linen etc, but tenancy laws are different for short term accomodation so people may be wary of letting for longer periods in case you refuse to move out at the end of it.

I can not get cookabach out of my head every time I think of bookabach - I wonder if others are put off by what I think has been just one occurrence of a meth cooker burning down a bach he hired on bookabach back in 2017.
