  • Attack of the NIMBY's

    Proving that feral behavior is not just limited to tenants and low rent locations -

    A stoush has broken out at an exclusive New Plymouth housing development over a 'For Rent' sign that a residents group says lowers the tone.

    He sounds all too faux-posh to me. Hell, if he actually had 2c to rub together he'd own the whole estate and wouldn't have neighbors to bother him, seeing he clearly has issues living in close proximity to others. He could be anti-social all by himself.

    There Is Worse

    If you think that's bad, some of the Homeowners Associations in USA would make your eyes water. E.g.
    * No washing lines allowed;
    * No clothes horses / airing racks to be visible from outside - even through a window;
    * Garage doors to be used for ingress and egress of vehicles only and not to be left open;
    . . . . and so it goes on.

    And, like BC fees, if you want to live there, HA m'ship and dues are compulsory.

      Sorry but PM should have read the BC rules before doing anything, she has a copy to pass on to the Tenant, right ??

      If the tenant she selected broke the rules inndome similarly minor way I'm sure they would be suitably advised of it.

      This rule is actually pretty common in the environment; surprised the sign is allowed to be inside the window still.

        Sounds like they have written lots of detailed rules, so there are probably large holes to drive through.

        No fixed signs? - how about a mobile one?
        No signs on vehicles? - What about a student walking up and down with a sandwich board?
        No motor homes parked in driveway? - leave it on the road. The student can live in it!

          Here is the view from our front door, here in the Philippines:

          What you see on the other side of the path is a school. This is the working class norm in the Philippines.

          A dickhead like that wouldn't survive 5 minutes in how a large number of people in the world live. He is a total power tripping tosser who should be ashamed of making a fool of himself.

            We managed some apartments in Albany and one of the rules was that no agents signs were supposed to be erected without BC permission. And fair enough too as we were the ones that used to prop and fix up the crappy real estate signs erected around the grounds and on the kerb. If you had 6 apartments being sold or rented by 6 different companies at one time as did happen when there are 180 of them it gets pretty messy.

              Agreed the complainant needs to get a life.

              That is a good standard from what i have seen in the Philippines . Are you running a sari-sari store there? [corner dairy /eatery for those who haven't been to Philippines]
