That's an odd amount - is it a fee that's that's approved by Gov't i.e a percentage or is it whatever amount any business feels is appropriate?
cheers,

Wow $144.70 plus GST = $166.41 to replace a window handle. Good money if you can get it I suppose. And the actual piece of hardware only cost $31 plus GST = $35.65.
Donna, looks like $8.70 plus GST = $10.
So this is what it has come to. Probably become a new standard fee everyone has to pay. I guess in this business that simply means that rents have to go up over time to pay for this nonsense.Squadly dinky do!

The client is responsible for insuring the site is heathly and safe for their contractors so by charging clients for health and safety are they then taking responsibility for themselves in case of an injury on clients premises? Or should the client in turn be charging them a H&S fee?

Right - this week I've had a number of people come to me asking for a property under $300... I've had to say sorry, we are upgrading all our properties as they become vacant to meet the new insulation requirements and also the proposed ventilation and heating requirements of the proposed HH act. As a result the rent for this property will be higher than what you're looking at. They've offered to rent the property WITHOUT the heat pumps, extractor fans, range hoods and insulation in order to keep the rent down.
I have to say sorry folks go talk to Jacinda and co.

I wonder. Can I get away with discounting the bill by $1 to allow for my bank charges for paying them?

The cost of H&S (to the tradesman) should be added to the hourly rate - just like all the other overheads.

Update from the tradesman:
Hi Keys – Will resend the invoice minus the H & S Fee as discussed with "the manager". We will not charge these to you in future.
Thanks and regards.

Danger money in the most literal sense! Funny thing is, even with paying a H&S fee you're not any less liable!Written by one of the team at http://www.chasepropertymanagement.co.nz/
