  • Tenant requests consent for name removal from TT Decision findings - would you?

Recently received an email from a former tenant i had to take to the TT. Damage to carpet was extreme along with the house being left very dirty and as a last resort i took them to TT after they were being unreasonable & uncommunicative .I was awarded costs for only some of the carpet but lots of rigmarole and time spent on case brought about by tenants themselves who didn't want to fix the problems they caused . I will never be paid for lost time and stress .
Now they have emailed me asking can i write to the TT and request the case be made private as they have fulfilled their obligations. Really?? They need landlords consent for this to happen. Of course i am reading between the lines that perhaps their new landlord has had more than enough of the disgusting way in which they chose to live and they are maybe having to find a new abode.

My feeling is you did the crime , do the time.Leave the TT decision online and face the consequences of your actions.

    What does anyone else think?

File the request in the round container marked "trash". Don't even reply to it.

Hell no. They want you to turn off the warning beacon. Massive cheek for even asking.

Please, on behalf of all landlords in the local area, do not grant this permission.

The public TT rulings allow proactive landlords to save themselves from situations like yours. No reason to take that check away from them.

Absolutely wont be giving my consent. Its quite outrageous that tenant in the same breath of asking for my consent to remove their names thinks that they have fulfilled their obligations in full.

Can you explain why you think they need the landlord's consent? Links to any rulings / MBIE advice etc?

I'm interested due to a ruling I was involved in having 'disappeared' - without any consultation with me.

They were informed after they had sent email requesting their TT decision to be removed.

There was a discussion on here year or two back where a TT decision did not appear on the database. The decision was adverse to the tenant who was a lawyer. The LL was not consulted.

The database should also go back further and not be a rolling ~3 years as I understand it.
Thankfully TINZ and I believe TPS keep decisions longer.
