  • NZ government or RBNZ going to have to step in if kiwi dollar weakens further, business debt is issued in the dollar, if the kiwi keeps falling they will have to step in and intervene or the economy will collapse

Only 2 options Jeffas sees to strengthen our currency

1/Sell our US cash reserves to strengthen the kiwi which is unlikely because we are 2 small

2/ Stimulate the economy by printing fake money

Yes yes I know this is inflationary, but all roads lead to hyperinflation eventually..

There is a way out. Likely, several. But all too hard; too unpalatable.

Last thing - I hope - but a decent war might make people sink their petty differences and work for a common good.

It's the main thing that's worked in the past. Dammit!

I hear it not as much fun as the movies make it look.
And the Asian ones are particularly uncivilized.
They don't call it "the horrors of war" for nothing.

            • OPINION: Banks margins have grown since the cost-of-living crisis began. And every other week it seems, they’re pushing home loan interest rates still higher.

              • add in a rate drop or 2 and boom. Let the Ponzi scheme continue. FYI I don’t make the rules, I just try and follow them. And this is just the start of spring.

                • Is it just me or has anyone moved tens sometimes hundreds of thousands of dollars in trade allocations across various bank or trading accounts while on the toilet?

                    • Cool, hoping the NZ doesn't drop too much against the US as spending a couple of months there next year. Need to swap NZ pesos for dollars.

                      • Some are saying our petrol price is heading towards $3.50 before Xmas! Looks like our weak dollar is starting to hurt.

Yes, it sure is and that's just a start for a period of much higher Oil prices ... and guess what that's going to do to NZ Inflation numbers .. I think we will see another rate hike or two and rates to stay higher for longer ...

Why... because of the Anti -OIL fossil fuel factors that were clear as day to many of us investing in the Energy sectors over the years... you can't expect replacement of reserves if you don't invest USD $500Bill per year

certainly been an agenda to get more people into EVs -public transport and keep the masses poor under a CARBON TAX...much easier to control poor people who can't afford expensive EVs that actually have range ..

keep blaming crude oil, fossil fuels killing the world, global Boiling, don't invest in the planet killer etc ...

yet it's the lifeblood of modern mankind's lifestyle pretty much everything we do and have is lubed by it ..

Solar panels, windmills, hydro-dams .. etc all need huge amounts of Fossil Fuels to be created maintained and decomm/replaced in time..

....the amount of minerals we need to mine so we can move from an FF to NET zero utopia is HUGE we can't even replace the reserves we once had
pouring Billions into exploring ..that guess whats using up Millions bbls of oil products

And we are going to head to net ZERO FFS!!!

I’ve just been in Malaysia and their petrol is around 35 cents a litre. You can get around everywhere using Grab and it’s ridiculously cheap. Makes you cry when go to the pump here.

                            cheers
