When Britain relaxed their anti-covid measures, Boris was roundly and soundly condemned as a killer. I presume that if all hell had broken loose, the NZ government's $105M taxpayer-paid-for propaganda arm - NZ's mudstream media, would've had a field day in support of comrade commissar's lockdowns. But nary a word.
On that basis, I'm guessing that the doomsayers were wrong about Britain. Anyone hearing anything from a personal contact, over there, about the situation? A newspaper clipping just in from the U.K. . . .

I gather that 'the right' in that picture are not there because they are dead.
No mention that currently the UK setting is producing the NZ equivalent of 8-9 deaths per day.
Also, Brits get freer reign after quite long restrictions that we haven't suffered.Last edited by Wayne; 28-08-2021, 02:14 PM.

Remember the rent and termination freeze to protect socio-commie-gummint-voting tenants?
Plus, comrade commissar Grant RobuSome (of I was overly specific infamy) is handing out billions for wages and salaries. For locked-down, shut down businesses, little sign of costs and expenses relief such as council Rates, electricity, ground rent, government charges, overdraft interest etc. But I suppose that's to be expected from an anti-business socio-commie gummint.

If it looks, walks and quacks like duck, well, then . . . .
And if that's your way of by-passing a detailed response - so be it. I have used those terms consistently in posts over the years of the current socio-commie gummint's tenure.

When you write (or speak) like that you show that there is unlikely to be a thoughtful, balanced argument enclosed.
Trump did the same all the time - label, label, label.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to waste my time.
You are so entrenched in your view that it would be a waste of time. You seem to have a lot of time in your little world - I have better things to do (I still have a life).
I will suggest that all our major parties have a socialist bent - we don't have a real right-wing party.

Interesting. Many are the arguments put forward by some. Many are the rebuttals by others.
As is usual by particular posters (plural), when asked for specifics, flowery excuses are given. Not just to one poster but to many asking for specifics.
"I love the work xxx is doing in parliament"
"what are they doing?"
"good work"
"what specifically?"
"I neither have the time nor the inclination to engage you in your views, they are wrong"

Short term impacts of closing the economy for the spread of Delta will ease headline inflation.
It will slow to similar growth as our main trading partners.
It will also reignite our NZ sharemarket which has been lagging this year.
Unfortunately the one's who will pay the price for the stabilization of economy will be small business owners, first time home buyers and those without assets.
The problem with the current Left government is they are portrayed as being a party for the working class, unfortunately there only funneling wealth into the asset holders or corporations on the NZX50.
In some of the poorest communities in South Auckland were housing "was" obtainable, they now sell in Otara for in excess of 1million dollars.
The RBNZ will force the bank's to restrict lending on FHB with DTIs and LVRS, this will affect these communities for generations as renter's .

The current (Aug / Sep 2021) lock-down extensions do seem far less credible than the first nationwide one month close down. The people in Greymouth, Riverton and like places would rightly be wondering what they'd done wrong, to be treated so.
Auckland PIs should be grateful that comrade commissars Cindy, FarGoneBoy and RobUsom didn't re-introduce the residential rent freeze and residential tenancy termination restriction. Well, perhaps all NZ PIs should be grateful?
This reported incident in Christchurch does show how things have got quite out of hand.
