An Auckland woman is living in fear after her landlord tried repeatedly to move into her flat during the Covid-19 lockdown, claiming it was his house and he had nowhere else to go.

Now staying in a Hotel on the taxpayer!
Hilarious. Hope it's a nice hotel.

So the property owner says there's no tenancy agreement in place and it's effectively a boarding house and the occupants are his 'flatmates' and that he has used it on and off for the last 8 years. No clear precedent to say if property owner has right to use the spare room in his house while there are other occupants living there.

There must be so many property related issues like this one.

I feel for the buyers and sellers caught in limbo - like this couple who have to pay late settlement interest - due to no fault of their own. and no one is willing to help them out. The property they were due to settle on - the vendors are making them pay the interest fee (should this be allowed)?

        cheers,

        Donna

Yep. With no written agreement, who's to say that his explanation of the facts isn't the right one? Sounds like the most vocal one had only been there a very short while, so how we she be the expert on the lay of the land? Probably a bit of Chinese whispers going on, as inabitants come and go and the newbies weren't there the last time the owner was back from overseas/in residence.

Also VERY high-handed of the police to say he had to go as it was mid-lockdown and he was in breach, when in fact people were given until the Friday to make their way to their isolation premises, if they were away at the time.

The only questions I have are:

Where was he sleeping before he decided to merge bubbles?
              and
When did he decide to merge bubbles?

The only thing I can say is I'm entirely sick of hearing the word bubble. Is it not time to burst some? No, no, just kidding. Don't want the stasi police arresting me.
Honestly the paranoia out there is really horrible, I just came back from a long germaphobic paranoia Countdown queue. I'm surprised they haven't yet resorted to electric cattle prodders .
