  • The Lies Continue

These standards will help ensure rental homes in New Zealand are warm and dry
No they won't. They will ensure that the rental homes are capable [only] of being warm and dry.

and will improve the health of tenants by improving the standard of housing.
If the capability to keep rental homes warm and dry is not utilised, again, no they won't.

The standards will also decrease maintenance costs for landlords
Oh? How? If the capability to keep rental homes warm and dry is not utilised by tenants, again, no they won't.

Ms Sykes needs to get a grasp on the real world, rather than the fantasyland of Dhil Twitford, et al.

I have just rung Tenancy Services and asked when the statement will be available, so that we can build relevant systems to produce said statement, and after checking with a senior advisor the only response was "nearer the time". So good luck with complying with that one then...
I am continuing to build my own app for this anyway!

      • Now that people in "emergency accommodation" are paying rent - and are hence tenants.
Are the motels all up to the new minimum healthy homes standard?
Have the tenants received the compulsory insulation statement and insurance details?

        • Lies, Damned Lies & Political Lies

But, but, but, you need to remember that the lie starts with the title of the legislation.

It is not about healthy homes, at all. Even if the legislation's figures and calculations are asinine, it's all about 'healthy' residential rental accommodation.

If you're a socialist / labour type supporter, Taxcindarella and Dhil Twitford et al don't care a stuff if the home you own and live in is below the healthy homes standards. Such socialist / labour type supporters could live in a mice-infested, draft-afflicted, uninsulated flea pit, for all they care.

          • What will the Nats. do?

The same thing they have always done.

            NOTHING.

After all, it was that blue green nutter from Nelson that allowed untreated timber in house framing, bailed from assisting the homeowners to replace their failed timber and started off this process of insulation and so on.
Labour just used the open door to screw everyone completely.

Sounds about normal. Although the gNats have averred that ring-fencing will go, plus a few other things.

ACT won't get enough votes to make any difference. It's tough, but . . .
ACT will remain a ghostly voice in the wilderness, until it's buried.

              • Not so.
Current polling suggests 5 and they are looking for candidates.

Fed up with the other useless lots.

"Current polling suggests" is like a moist finger in the wind to suggest the weather possibilities.

As for "other useless lots," what makes you think they are not all the same?

When asked why hustings policy promises were not kept after the last election, Thinston First responded: not enough people voted for us.

Davo has oft-talked about this before and Taxcindarella Tooth Fairy has said the same: it was an aspiration - not a policy promise.

The way to tell if a politician is lying is their lips are moving.

                  They're all the same.

The people NZ most needs in government would never consider getting involved.

                    • Matthew Gilligan has written a good blog post on Healthy Homes and what tax you can claim back - it may surprise you to know that what most if not all of what Landlords 'have to' do can not be tax deducted or depreciated. WTF!

No wonder the Gov't are buying up motels - they're going to need lots of them!

                      cheers,

                        • When National leads a government again they will repeal a lot of the current government's rental changes. But if that is 2023 or later it will be way too late of course.

                          • There was a mention in the NBR couple of weeks back that Minister Faafoi was willing to negotiate on some items in his current Bill, but not prepared to move on the 90 day notice issue.

If you believe that then good on you, BUT the Nats do not have any record of doing any such thing.
They are as socialist as the Labour people they hug.

Remember, "you become like the 10 people you spend most of your time with".

The Nats will do a fat lot in their pants just like the last time and the time before.

Party Vote ACT for better representation.
