        • Seems an odd thing. I wonder what's really behind it?

          Will REAs be expected to join up?

          After all, they already have their own little wet-bus-ticket group.

          My guess is that the IPMA folks will already be of a better standard than REA outfits.

                • Here is the link for the full plan. I read it through to see if the plan recognised the probable sales of rentals if even some of their plan is implemented. Sure, it is there, sort of, and the remedy is simple - lots more taxpayer money for public housing.

                  Renters United is Wellington based. No mention of nearly a thousand rentals available in Wellington as of today, ready and waiting for unhappy tenants to move right in. They look clean and tidy, not full of dirt and mould, but maybe the photos are not the full story. ;D

                  Mr Twyford is, however, listening and has promised a review of the RTA soon. Chances are some of this plan will be implemented. I hope he has the Finance Minister softened up for a massive injection of taxpayer money.

                    In their 'Plan,' Ranters Untied have asserted - with full logical fallacy authority:

                    Rental homes are cold, damp and unsafe even as rents go up and up.
                    In the absence of a qualification like some or many or a few, that means that all rental homes are cold, damp and unsafe.

                    Why would anyone take said ranters seriously?

                    Except a W'gton woodenhead or two with an eye to snagging a few votes.

                      we are about to relocate the house we live in to a subdivided section we own with the intent to rent out. As we go through the process we will have to upgrade the property to meet tenancy requirements. Not sure why it’s good enough for me and my family including a 5 month old but not good enough for any tenant.

                      anyways I’m happy to invest the funds the funds to insulate etc but will ensure the payout for the additional funds is made up from the increase in rent within 12 months.

                        Quinovic are the "bumble fumble" of property management from my experience with them. Gross mistakes from inspection forms to bond lodgment and rent increase notices . They stuffed it all up for myself on a recent property purchase where they were managing the property for the previous owner. Hopeless absolutely hopeless they were. Their arrogance was astounding!

                            No doubt you will ask for whatever rent the market will bear.
                            If you hadn't had to change a thing I expect you'd be asking the same rent.

                            I really don't think the customer expectation of an insulated, non-drafty product is unreasonable.
                            Warm - depends on the heat the tenant puts in.
                            Anyone reading some of the comments on these forums would get the feeling that landlords are a heartless Dickensian lot.

                            • The Plan to Fix Renting was launched on 11 July 2018 by Renters United

                              To quote - “Rental homes are cold, damp and unsafe even as rents go up and up. Renters can have our homes taken away for any reason — or no reason. Meanwhile, the few rights we do have are poorly enforced through a system that renters themselves pay for. Half of all New Zealanders rent, yet we cannot make our house a home.”

                              And the web ends - “We need to build the pressure on politicians to act by making sure they hear about the issues with renting and the solutions we propose from as many people as possible, as well as in the media.”


                              As NZPIF response I’ve only seen A. King’s response.
                              Heavy views on one side of the equation, but what is the counterbalance?

                              • I'd love to hear professional opinion from practising psychiatrist how and if it's even helpful to argue with clinically delusional and generally stupid patients?
