  • Does house age/built year matter??

Hello everyone and happy new year!!

We are currently looking at property as family home. It is built in the year of 1940 but very well maintained and updated. Does house age matter??
Will it effect the resale of the property down the line?

    Cheers

Materials are probably superior to modern houses especially if it has rimu or matai floor boards but check wiring and for asbestos and possibly for cracked sewers depending on where it is and if lots of trees around it.

Only as much as it is affecting your decision now.
It could go up in value due to age if it becomes perceived as 'classic' or something.
Look at some of the villas in Auckland - people love then and spent buckets returning them to their former glory.

Go for the ones built in 1990s.
          Mediterranean style.
Pretty cheap - but can be a bit soggy.
