  • Renovate to Profit

    Hi guys,
Has anyone ever used the Renovate to Profit company? What did you think? Are their prices competitive and do they finish the work on time?
    Many Thanks

Sharon is really nice, and does seem to know her stuff about renovating, and the differences between renovating to hold and renovate to sell, but I think they may have a few bugs in how they run their business. I got her around for a quote. I think they charge about $5000 for project management which is about standard from what I have seen, she gave me a rough quote, and then when I went unconditional, she came around for a more detailed quote, brought in all her tradies, measured everything up and I never ever received the quote and didn't hear anything from her.

I had to put up with Mark giving me a free kitchen once, but apart from that, he's not to bad

The intention is, surely, to purchase, renovate and sell.

GST and Provisional tax will be implicit in this as I'm sure the income will exceed the levels required to register etc.

Now I understand. I didn't take it that they wanted to buy, renovate and sell and they never stated that. It could also be that they want to tidy up their tired property and continue to rent (at higher price).
Anyway now I see where you are coming from.

I have used Sharon to do a major renovation job for me. She fully managed the renovation for me as I am based overseas. Her company's strength is she fully project manages herself and has great relationships with contractors and so can get jobs done under tight timelines.

She is not the cheapest option but the job done is top notch.

I have had the same result, and concur with everything you say here Shane.

I would note that Sharon is doing this on her own now, and Mark is running Renovate to Profit with some new people brought in.
                  Both are very good.

Actually BK, you were the one that put me on to them.

Regarding the split, I never like to talk about my bad experiences too much, but I recently got a outrageously expensive quote from Mark's company Renovate to Profit that made me run a mile. Can you imagine a $4,000 quote for curtains and nets for a 2 bedroom unit.

Perhaps he didn't want the job and was trying to put you off.

A possibility I guess. The tactic worked if that was his intention .

I have a talented painter and carpenter that can do most of my stuff now.
But Morgs Maintenance in South Auckland, is good for minor renovations and completing the whole job.
As a straight up builder Richard La Trobe is also good for work in the south.

                            Project manager

Thanks guys for the answers. I am just on the process of buying a trade in South Auckland, this is my first job and I am looking for names/contacts of a project manager, company or tradesman. I need someone reliable and that will commit to the job as I need to buy, renovate and sell quite quickly.
                            Thanks again

                              GST? Provisional tax? Tainting?
                              Much to think about.
