you might consider laying a membrane sheet (Butynol) in the internal gutter using the metal as the substrate.

Depending on the type of roof and fixings you might have more trouble getting the ,metal gutter in without removing the roof.

Go with metal.

In most cases its a case of just removing the Fascia board and then fit it in - make sure you allow adequate overflows..

Yes are going with metal guttering thats what we have now, Ace spouting and fascia Ltd are doing it early in the New Year, they were recommended by the last company we approached.
