  • best colour to paint the interior of a rental property and carpet

Just wondered what other investors had found was the best colour to paint interiors? I am looking at going for an off white for everything - ceiling, walls, skirtings etc. Figure it is easy to touch up in future and cheaper being one colour for everything but was wondering if it would be a problem showing marks etc and if therefore going for a beige or light grey would be better?
Also what colour for carpet have people found works best? I was going to go for a charcoal with flecks so it wouldn't show staining which is always the main problem with tenants.

Resenes Half tea with 1/2 pearl lustre for trims looks modern and fresh and goes with anything. Darker carpets in slightly brown grey shades look good with it. They do show white fluff and pet hair.

But you also need to keep the kind of property in mind. I've seen people jump on the trendy grey bandwagon when they had a small, cold, dark house. Disastrous.

I recently did a 50s house in colours very similar to the posters above, with a bit of red in the curtains/splashbacks for pop. Looks amazing.

I reckon it depends on the property too.

What I'd do is get a colour consultant in. They only charge a few hundred bucks but come up with good ideas.
          Squadly dinky do!

If for a rental, Alabaster or black white. Gloss on trims and satin on everything else, (including ceilings). Goes with anything and you always know what colour to touch up.

How about vomit with the odd touch of red wine stain?

Butynol on the walls and floors works in rentals.
Hose the place out between tenants!
