What waterproofing is everyone using ?

Hi Guys

im currently renovating my bathroom at the moment ,

current stage:
All old gib boards has been replaced with aqualine gib , just need to fill in holes and gaps before water proofing.

What brand water proofing is everyone using, are there any that I should stay away from ? FYI :::: I will be tiling all walls and floors hence the needed of water proofing.

Also, with the screw holes and gaps in the corner/floor to walls , is this all covered up with Waterproof and fibreglass tape or should I cover the screw holes and corner gaps with paper tape and pre mixed plaster first ?

Any help will be much appreciated.

I will be fully tiling up to ceiling once done...

waterproofing will be around the wet area, i.e shower area and floors and walls.

That's what I was wondering.
I use no waterproofing apart from paint.
But then I don't have a tiled shower.

Mapei Aquadefence and for the internal corners Mapeiband, leave the internal corners un stopped so you dont need a bondbreaker, flush the screw holse with something that goes hard so no premix anything, if you are doing a shower you will need falls sloped to the drain prior to waterproofing

Yeah for the floor , I have a slope going towards the drain. hoping to have waterproofing done in a few weeks.

couple of questions if you don't mind me asking , Gib board in bathroom is all up and holes all filled. Butt joint has been jointed with fibreglass tape and jointing compound.

Question , with the corners in the wet area/shower area , should I fill the corner gaps with the same product fibreglass tape/jointing compound first and then apply the waterproof membrane/tape? just wasn't sure about the bond between the compound and waterproof?

I also built a shower niche that will also need to be waterproof, guessing this process will be the same as the corner gaps in the wet area.

dont fill any corners that are being waterproofed, just use the tape, make sure you get good coverage with the w/p membrane its not like paint you dont brush it out it has to be thick

Any reason why ? Is it cause of the bond with waterproof mem against the plaster compound? Which makes it weaker?

any change of plane (wall floor joints, internal external corners is where you will get movement, if the joints are filled you need to use a bondbreaker so the waterproofing isnt directly stuck at the joint so it doesnt split. The mapei bandage bridges the joints and being peel and stick is easy to apply and if you dont fill the joints it saves you time and takes away problems with movement, its expensive at around $5.00 a meter but it costs thousands to fix a leaking shower so a hundie for tape in the danger areas is cheap insurance
