I can see both sides in that argument.
Certainly the garage and the 5m set-back is a no brainer.
Personally I don't like streets that have high fences all the way - they seem very un-friendly.
I also wouldn't building on the south side of an west-east street as your 'living' is in the front yard - but someone has to build there.
You used to get hedges - now you get a brick fence.
Yepp can see both sides of the argument. I prefer walking down streets without high fences they do seem more safer. I guess it's using appropriate fences in the right places is more beneficial to everyone.

It's all the council planners who think like this - they are the ones pushing this nanny state intrusion onto us.
How can they be told to butt out?
Who trains and selects them for council positions?
