  • Architect/Architectural Designer recommendation in Auckland

I am looking for a designer for an extension (approx 30sqm) to a bungalow in a central Auckland suburb. I need them to draw plans, arrange consents and run a tender process to find someone to build the extension. If you have any recommendations of people that would be good for this kind of job I would be keen to know.

I work with some high end architectural companies but I don't think it wise to utilise their services for anything under $500k. As a start I would suggest looking at www.nocowboys.co.nz

I recently built a website for a designer. He's not in AKL but I don't think that matters. http://www.livingarchitecture.co.nz
You can find me at: Energise Web Design

I used Allan Taylor last year for some large scale renovations. He did the designs, consents and helped me with the tender process (although he didn't run it himself).

I can't say the whole thing was problem free, but he was responsive, stuck to his quote and helped me when I had a scope of works issue with the builders. Also, the council part of the process was problem free.

www.ata.co.nz - although the website isn't very helpful. PM me if you want more details.

Hey have you ever tried to find out about no cowboys or post feedback about them?? Probably not because they are elusive and as dodgy as anything in my opinion.
Go find a person or company and post feedback, good or bad, it doesn't matter if you have used their services or not, your post will remain on their site.
Word of mouth or drive down some streets in your area and look for other residents doing similar sized renos and find out who is doing the building. Often the builder will have a contact or may be able to organise and do the work himself. Lodging a consent is a piece of cake, if you can read and write and have common sense then you can do it yourself and save money.
