No Xav I was just being funny.
I don't do unpermitted anything.
Cost me 3K recently to be told I couldn't cut down a half dead tree :-(
I hope teh new supercity simplifies some of the red tape

Ah right, thanks. Personally I wouldn't make any exceptions either, so I was curious to know if you did. I could understand making exceptions for things that aren't too costly to reverse but it doesn't seem worth the risk to me. It's sad when getting the actual work done is the easy part.

OK, come on you guys, get some balls. We just enclosed a carport on a relatives place in Manurewa with no permit. The permit would cost like $10k and the work would have been less than that. Not to mention the 2-3 months it would take to get the permit, the crossing deposit you'd have to pay and then try and get back and so on.
Seriously, what is the downside here? The council don't go around checking people's places to see if they have done illegal works. The only they'd find out is if someone rings them up and tells them or complains in some way.
Having said that, with that one BK, the sides are open as well right? So you'd need to frame them in. Just a bit more work I guess. You'd also need a door from the new garage to the front door, but this is all doable.Squadly dinky do!

A noise complaint, car on road, almost anything can cause one grief. Obviously a garage door is unlikely to be an issue but I wouldn't risk it myself.
