After comrade socialist Cindy's 30-day free trial of communism, what [non-gummint-handout] livelihood was there left?

Forgetting Court Jeffa's (Jester's) conspiratorial assertion, of course.

What person would intentionally infect themselves so?

I have found that there appears to be plenty of livelihood left if what I have seen in my 2 weeks roaming the country is anything to go by.

You sound like a person who thinks that there shouldn't have been a lockdown at all?

The lock-down was successful. I suspect that the cost; the worst of the economic fall-out; is yet to come. I.E. Socialist Cindy will get angry many times more about staff lay-offs. Once the various forms of hand-outs of gummint-borrowed billions stops (or slows markedly), I suspect times will be tough for many.

I mentioned it very early in the lock-down times: the economic burden will not be shared equally.

        A sort-of example . . .

Help soak up a few crocodile tears, then weep yourself.

Socialist Cindy et al are embarrassed at the non-event MP pay cuts.

Pay cuts which were led by private enterprise!! Not by the tooth fairy, as asserted.

Socialist Cindy is 'frustrated' she's still on full pay despite promised cuts (Oh, the pain, the grief and the woe! Shades of when things go right, I'm front and centre, but when things don't go right, I'm hard to find.)

Doesn't anyone else find it odd that the socio-commies' covid-19-excuse anti-LL legislation was passed in to law in under 24 hours, but the MPs pay cut was just 'too, too hard' for Comrade Cindy to organise?

(Looks around for pot plant to throw up in.)

The worst part is she'll probably be elected to spin more such tear-jerker BS tales to the terminally-gullible NZ voters.

To me, the only fair and reasonable comparison is Oz. Last I checked the figures, the death rate for NZ & Oz was the same, @ 1.4%, even though Oz did not get to a level 4 equivalent lock-down.

And the economic comparison - remember that they still have a lot of limitation within their economy where we have one (at the border).
Last I checked the figures is that they have similar economic impact to us.

My brother has a far-from-essential business in Cairns. He reported that - apart from the pub closing - t'was business as usual, for him, right through.

But the Pub doesn't think it is business as usual.
Neither do a lot of other hospitality places - they'd love to be in the position their counterparts here have been in for a week at least.
Not to mention people still not being allowed to get around their country.

              • O.K. Right. You're much more up with the Oz situation than I am.

                  • My brother's business being open was not supposition.
Delight at business as usual for him; and dismay at no pub call options.
'Hearsay' is about the worst label one could give those reported items of mine.

As for NZ's "border limitation," what can I say?

No I disagree with that Perry, your beliefs are informative and I enjoy your dark sense of humor.

We younger generation of investors do not have the real world knowledge you have lived through.

Our knowledge comes from a computer or a phone.

And what a dull world it would be if we all thought the same.

My worry about the rock and roll generation is that they are out of touch.
Many of the rules about how life worked in their day no longer apply.
Fortunately for them, most of those rules still work in their own small social circles, and small towns and businesses.
I wish the world did still work that way.
                            It was a better world.

                            But,
with the introduction of the Pill,
the removal of the gold backed US dollar,
and the removal of distance (by computers),
much of that good old fashioned common sense fails.

Much of it still does work, mind.

                            • Are any heads being rolled due to the big fail that's created more Covid cases?

Hard to believe Aussie's decision to probably not open borders until next year isn't influenced by our lack of testing at the border. How's this going to impact on our tourist areas like Q'town and the hundreds of jobs etc depending on the tourists?

I think big heads should fall otherwise the Gov't looks complacent and soft.

                              cheers,

How did it 'create' more covid cases when they were imported?
Did I miss something - so far they haven't transmitted it to anyone else (remember I did say 'so far').

Given Aus still has community transmission I can't see us having cases at the border having a bearing on a transtasman bubble - would we really want Aussies coming in until they get 0 community transmission?

I think your politics rather than logic is showing through.
