Hi All,
About a year ago, I have purchased a property with an attached minor dwelling (ground floor). However, the council came to me one day saying it is not consented. Looking at the records however, the council rates department have been collecting rates for it already for many years now. Also from the council website, it is clearly stated that the land use is 'MULTI UNITS, FLATS'. We also have 2 recycle bins issued by the council one for each unit.
Can I contest the council claim?
If the council insists on me filing COA, given that the rates department already recorded our property as multi-dwelling and collecting rates for it, what is the chance that I can get a negotiated deal with them?
Does anyone had same experience?
I'm already thinking of consulting a lawyer to know what's my right and what's the best way to go forward.
Any advice please.
Thanks
