    Found these little bugs wandering around fence and an old garage.

          Interestingly Thermite was used by the 9/11 conspiracy theorists in their hypothesis.

              doesn't look much like the termites i know

              head too small, need powerful jaws to chew wood

              if it was fast, not a termite

              if it was by itself, probably not a termite

              termites digest the wood, so they don't need to leave home to go looking for food

              they stay in their chewed up wooden galleries, surrounded by their mates and powdery termite kaka

              have you defeated them?

                Yes, I'm with Eri. Termites don't tend to be seen outside. Eggs are laid under the surface of the wood, they hatch and burrow in (after the food). Once adult, they emerge (hence the hole) and fly around, to look for a new bit of softish wood to destroy. If you seeing the bugs out and about, unlikely to be termites.
