  • Residents warned to be cautious

    Hi all,

Another sad article. I have heard of this scam in Aus last year.
Also if you are in need of workers for your IP(s) the article names the people invloved.

Elderly people are being warned to be careful if approached by people offering to do work around the house after one Palmerston North woman was almost stung for $1300 to remove two trees.

The two men, who would not give their names or the name of their company, asked the Hokowhitu woman to sign a contract and then carried on with the work. The woman was not given a copy of the contract.

When confronted by the Manawatu Standard, they picked up their tools, packed their truck and left, without their money. They returned later, but when the woman refused to pay the money they said they would accept $700 which they were due to collect this morning.

Hmmmm... that is one thing that makes me really angry - picking on the elderly!

    Absolutely disgusting.

I remember seeing that show on Fair Go a few years back. I could think of a few more better uses for that chainsaw!
