Is an electrical connection required in a building??

Hey PT law experts, a left-field question here, but i've been pondering the NZ building code and associated regulations in recent weeks - is a building (commercial or residential) legally required to have an electrical supply? I know that clause G9 of the building code states HOW the connection should be done to be safe, but I can't work out which piece of legislation says that there actually has to be an electrical connection. This is purely an academic question, I am not planning to sell or build a house with no power Anyone know??

I am intrigued by the question so I did a few searches - you can buy and a home in any state including without power and plumbing.

You can not rent it a property without them…(source was USA site).

You probably can not get a CCC for a property without power - but some rural properties may be off the grid so they must be exempt?

Could you power a property without electricity? Surely you can when it’s hyper energy efficient and you’ve got an energy source that can produce the required amount of power needed for the property and it’s occupants.

Keen to red what others have to say.

    Cheers

^^ re Ukrainians - pop up tents with wood stoves and a generator keep people warm and their phones charged.
Winter in Kyiv, Ukraine, sometimes without electricity, heat and water, is a challenge for the country's people.
