Processing Time for IR3 Through IRD

This is the first year I've owned a rental property and had tax losses.

What is the timeframe for IRD to process the IR3?

My accountant put the completed forms in with them about 6 weeks ago and haven't had my refund through yet.

It depends on the level of the refund.

Lower refunds can be released in a few days, whereas larger ones can take up to the full 10 weeks which is IRD standard processing time.

A large refund is around the $5k or over.

Mine is usually back within days, but it's taking longer this year.

Almost all of the returns I've filed (both tax to pay and refunds) have been processed within two weeks. Most within a couple days, including a few $10k refunds. I've been very impressed how quickly IRD have worked as a whole this year.

I do have a couple stuck 'under review' for many weeks now, for seemingly no reason. But as Ross said, they have up to 10 weeks as their standard timeframe.
