        Far rather that than:

        "Banks make record losses.

        • How about just "Banks make reasonable profits" ??

          • Which will occur if people buy less of their product.
There seems little sign of that.
When it starts happening they will lower their prices (margin)
Until then; it's a business....let the good times roll.

              • yes w44vi; I totally agree.

Share price down 2.42% on the disappointing news.
                Shareholders deserved better.

They will need to work harder and produce better results.

The RBNZ Governor will be pleased however.
Makes his job a little easier which is the main thing.

                • While ANZ's income has actually shrunk by $20m, that has been more than compensated for through significant cost-cutting of $115m.

True, but what do we do? Ban outsourcing? Enclose our economies? It's pretty scary. We're seeing massive change in the way we make our livings on a similar scale to the industrial revolution. Don't you think it's ironic that the anti-globalisation movement is worried about its effect on 3rd world countries, when the reality seems to be that it's gutting the economies of the 1st world countries!?

                      • Starting to drift off-topic, a tad, however . . .

Third World countries standards of living
will go up at the expense of the standard
of living in first world countries. Unless
the environment is factored in, of course.

What's even more worrying is that no
one saw it coming and all seem power-
less or witless to do anything about it.

And the prime global corporate plun-
derer - USA - is shooting itself in the
foot, as it roars onwards to its demise.

While sacrificing customer service, will prob lose my business due to their call centre incompetence (on many occassions)

This week my last property is finally taken away from them and I have no business with them.

They do not have good systems, customer service shaky, and have annoyed me on a couple of issues this year.
