    Search for short words?

    G'day Donna, Marc, Sarahk!
Can you please fine a way solve this issue: forum does not allow to search for short words, like GST IRD TAX etc giving an error:
The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search : gst

    Any solutions?
Don't argue with idiots, they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

    Hello,

I have located the setting with controls the minimum length of a search term and its currently set to 4 letters. The reason why they have this restriction is to stop the database from becoming huge. I will check with our mega guru Sarahk to see if reducing this setting will cause us any issues.

    cheers!

All sorted out and I have the server grinding away hunting out those little words right now.

Please use this thread to suggest other short words which should be included. To avoid overloading the system I'm manually managing the "3 letter word list"

                Hello sarahk,

A quick damage limitation post follows…

I can see how it looks but I really was not trying to be a smart a***.

I was thinking of landlords searching for posts relating to tenancy issues. Such as tenants/neighbours with dog problems; pets and tenancy agreements; cat pee in the carpet; rats attracted by piles of rubbish left outside. Also, fencing matters in rural land (cows). There have been posts on these subjects here before and so I thought these words might prove to be a useful addition to your list. In some ways I think they may be more relevant than IRS.

Aaah, I see where you're coming from and will add those words (pee included)

I imagine in the USA section of this forum that IRS is quite valid.

With that in mind I'm open to any other suggestions that may not seem obvious to me.

As a matter of technical interest, does the search look for whole words only, or simply look for the search string within the post?

Would searching for 'cat' match a post containing 'category'?
