I'm not DIY-inclined so will make a worse mess if I try to repair this myself, so I was wondering if anyone has builder recommendations or cost estimates from their experience.
I believe the hot water cylinder (low pressure) has been slowly leaking for awhile. I felt a spongey indentation in the hallway outside the hot water cabinet. The carpet itself was dry so I crawled under the house to take a look, and sure enough the particleboard flooring has gone soggy (the weetbix effect). It's spread maybe 1 meter either side of the cylinder, but the worse parts are those around the cylinder itself (photo will be linked once I am allowed to).
This sounds like a common enough occurrence (if web searches are any indication) but no one shared how they fixed/replaced their floorboards or how much that would cost in both dollars and time.
I'm already getting a plumber in to confirm if the cylinder is the culprit. I will also get a drip tray/safe tray put in to prevent this in the future.
Looking forward to hear from survivors who have been through particle board hell and lived to tell the tale. Thanks!
