  • Now British and American are coming over

Thanks to Brexit & Trump, looks like another wave of people coming over here.

Interestingly they are looking at Auckland City, North Shore City, Wellington City & Rodney.

    What's next?

The Brits may be looking, but Auckland is a now pretty expensive city for the majority of them. I know many that would love to move here, but the current house prices, cost of living and recent devaluation of the GBP have made them look to other countries/cities.

Auckland is a very desirable place to live. But you've got to come over with a pretty hefty wodge in your back pocket to set yourself up successfully nowadays. Which is why we are seeing more of a shift to asian immigrants rather than the historical dominant European and South African migrant.

Obviously Auckland isn't NZ. Chch used to be second favourite, but the shakes have given most of the Brits the shakes about moving there.

Wellingtons weather reputation puts off many of them. Weather is such a draw card, that potentially moving somewhere that has similar/bad weather puts off a fair number.

Rural, well... as they say in the UK its like marmite, you either love it or hate it...

Americans will never come her in any volume. Most are to poor and the ones with money have the whole world to pick from. We are considered too far away and too isolated. Doesn't mean we won't see a bunch but never on the scale of the Chinese, Indians and south Africans.

I don't think you should be happy about it. New property investors might mean a rise in housing prices for locals

Pity for them that a large part of the world isn't very safe for a American.

Lots of Brits and Europeans have moved into Kapiti - due to the weather being a lot better (less windy days, and a couple of degrees warmer).

They don't mind the commute into Wellington (50KM) - and the 50 min journey will be a lot less with the new motorways opening soon.

            cheers,

            Donna
