Amanda Watt, Crowe Horwath
At this presentation, experienced investor and chartered accountant Amanda Watt will give an update on the 2015 tax law changes relating to property and clarify common misconceptions relating to the new speculator tax. Amanda will also and cover important tax rules relating to deductibility and associated persons, how to manage audit risks and limit IRD penalties.

Daymon Shack, chattel depreciation specialist, will give an introductory talk on rules relating to chattel depreciation, discuss ways to limit depreciation clawback, reduce IRD penalties and give case study examples to illustrate the cashflow potential of chattel depreciation is being explored across the entire portfolio.
Audited - a property investor's experience going through an IRD audit

Reflecting on his recent experience being audited by the IRD, Ron Hoy Fong will give a frank account of the process from the beginning to the end. Having gone through the auditing process successfully, Ron will talk about the key lessons he learnt, his major concerns throughout the audit and how they were managed and tips for fellow investors to consider implementing now in order to get through a future audit.
HWSA and how it affects Landlords and property managers
From the 4th of April onwards the new Health and Safety at Work Act will introduce a new set of obligations for professional property managers as well as landlords. At this introductory session, lawyer Kristine King will give a brief overview of the HSWA, the legal duties it introduces and the classes of people who will be affected. At the end of this session you will learn the key vocabularies created by the HSWA, understand the principals that drive this piece of legislation to be on your way to create your own health and safety risk management strategy for your rental properties. Kristine will follow up with a more in-depth training session on HSWA later on in the month where frequently asked questions from the property industry will be answered.
