You can't compare Welly though Wayne, nobody lives there. Any city under a million people isn't comparable.

So you say - is that a rule or something?
Based on the graph I'd rather live in Berlin - so much more world on your door step.
Sydney has a lot more happening as does New York and any other large 'international' city you care to mention.

Not a rule just common sense. Anyway you can ignore it. Investment companies around the world find it helpful, maybe we are all wrong :-).

here is a much more appropriate list of comparable cities:

            price to to income ratios:

            Auckland - 10.31

            Brisbane - 7.81
            Perth - 8.23
            Adelaide - 6.13
            Melbourne - 7.96
            Wellington - 5.68
            Seattle - 5.73
            Miami - 6.70
            San Diego - 6.84
            Chicago - 4.11
            Houston - 2.84
            Boston - 7.45

tell me again how Auckland is affordable compared to other big cities?

That is a much better comparison kbkiwi. Based on affordability ratio Houston is the place to be!

exactly! There is no reason people should be comparing Auckland with Sydney. London, Paris, New York etc, when there are much better comparisons to other large cities which show a much more appropriate valuation expectation.

These are what the world perceived Auckland to be, and what most of us visualize Auckland will be.

Each country has its own major city that set the basis for comparison.

ha ha ha. Yeah keep dreaming, most of the world have no idea where Auckland is, or have even heard of it.

Auckland will only get more expensive the more people know about Auckland ;-)
