Contamination lasts 10 years in a property and is harmful to your health!
A fairly broad statement given there are many different degrees of contamination.
I would think it ranges from 'full meth cook lab' to 'smoked a bit in a bedroom'.
The former being a potential big issue and the later being a nuisance but both being 'contamination'.

In theory, what you said is true. But theory and practice are very different in this case. Speaking as someone who has extensive knowledge of the meth testing and cleanup industry, both smoking and manufacture are a huge problem for any potential buyers of your property. Because of the very nature of clandestine meth labs, the source of the contamination is very difficult to ascertain, thus meaning that all meth contamination is going to cause issues for any potential buyer.
I have personally seen many sales of houses fall through due recently renovated properties failing meth tests. In one particular instance, not only did the vendor lose the sale, but was required to pay for the professional rip out and disposal of all contaminated surfaces from the property before it could be relisted. The vendor, in this case, ended up shelling out even more for decontamination, while losing their initial investment in the renovations.
If in fact, you do intend to sell the dwelling you are renovating, it would be advantageous for around one hundred dollars, to test the house and make sure that your hard earned money and effort isn't wasted on what would amount to a deep dark hole for the rest of your money.
Hopefully as the industry progresses, methods of detecting and proving meth lab activity over smoking will become more documented and economically viable. This would greatly change how we would approach any individual situation, and more appropriate remediation or consideration for buyers would be made available. However, until such time, a better safe than sorry approach is taken towards meth contamination.
I'm also looking for a Draftsman..in Auckland. If anyone knows a good one, please let me know. Architects are way to expensive and I know exactly what I want, so no need for design
Not going to recommend the one I used, had a bad luck streak that delayed my plans quite severely.
Maybe that luck has changed, or maybe its permanent.
