* Yet a fringe party that draws half the vote is no longer a fringe. * Voters are deserting mainstream parties because they stand for so little. *They are hungry for politicians with clear values.
Ross, said that the most open countries would have the greatest success in the coming decades because the biggest emerging markets were big data and genomics.
"The industries of the future will be overwhelmingly concentrated in the most open societies."
But he warned that America could become a more closed society if Donald Trump was elected president.
"We're having this struggle very publicly in the United States right now where a vulgar, demented, pig demon named
Donald Trump is trying to make the United States a more closed society.
"We have never thrown up candidates who were so unqualified and uncouth
and I am afraid that it is a sign that the American electorate no longer taking the country seriously,
it's no longer regarding the United States as a country that leads the world, that has responsibility that it is a beacon of freedom,
no we're just a rabble and we can elect whoever we like.
"It's not just the bigotry, it's the not feeling a sense of responsibility to your country or the world.
There is something nihilistic about a willingness to put someone like that up for the presidency."
Mr Ross, by his OTT rhetoric, might actually have the reverse effect he (presumably) hoped for. Telling millions of American citizens that they are basically stupid is more likely to make them angry than to change their vote, or not vote.
I think it's a pretty safe bet Trump will be the next President. And based on his history, putting all the drivel aside, he could be very good for the USA.

If you put all his drivel aside he hasn't said a word.
I gather you have put money on it - you seem pretty sure?
Well that's my point Wayne, he is fairly innocuous. I only have money on it int he sense I am looking forward to the impact he has on the USD. Providing he gets good advisors he could sort out the ridiculous entitlement issues they have and the overspending. I genuinely think he will be good. Romney would have been great also. What USA needs is an astute businessman to fix their economy. Everything else is secondary right now.
Either is fine Eri. When I lived there and observed their system, it is like so obvious what many of the problems are. And they are pretty much all internal. What he threatens to do to Mexico etc. is just vote getting. He could;t have played the game better. You sit down in any city and ask people about Mexicans, blacks or other minorities. HE has tapped into mainstream americas fears. But the real issue is standing up to unions and other zealot lobby groups and balancing the books. He can do that in his sleep with some good people around him.
