I have a check meter on one of my properties where there are 2 tenancies .However i dont use it as i much prefer to include the power and water in both rents - this way i dont have headache of going around once a month to take check meter readings then bill each tenant separately - what a pain ita. Take my advice just include power and water in rent.If it gets out of hand with useage i ask both tenants to be more conservative.
I have check meters as well, however I do bill the power separately. Something of a pain to manage, however just including it can see usage get out of hand IME. Water I include, that seems more consistent and I don't have separate metering in any case.
