Tulip - you need glasses.
At least ones less rose tinted.
Other PMs and the like have also worked hard for NZ - they have just not trumpeted as much as JK (he certainly likes the limelight).
If you think a new flag is going to help trade then you need help.
Huge capital gains? Just what does that actually do for the country?
Income if sold one day.
BTW how did you get on at specsavers the other day re your short sightedness ?
Current flag great if in your boat but where is the representation
for New Zealanders with the current flag ?
The Southern Cross - it represents all New Zealanders and that's all that is required I believe. It's time we all moved on If we go down that path of needing to represent ethnicity that would mean we'd need something on the flag to represent the Asians too.
I don't see any other country doing that.... the American flag would need to have something for the Hispanics, and African Americans. The Canadians changed their flag but it's a maple leaf - it's not representing the French or other ethnicities.
cheers,
Donna
.....btw I don't like our national anthem - it's saving grace is the maori language.
Perhaps just have The Southern Cross then and get rid of the union jack
that way it is fair to all New Zealanders ?
Southern cross boring to me though, emphasis on some stars configuration
that the aussies also use.
Surely we can come up with something unquie to New Zealand ?
The Canadian maple leaf is neutral to all Canadians but our current flag is not neutral
to all New Zealanders ?
