I have been getting told by agents that more owner occupiers are trying to buy land themselves and develope the property for themselves. I have 3 tenants in my properties but come renewal time, agents are saying more and more buyers were more interested in shorter leases so they can get in and develope the property quicker themselves as apposed to waiting for leases to run out or buying the tenants out of the leases. I would be interested in other people's view on this? Cheers. Gene

May I ask what kind of business you have?
1) I own a majority shareholding in an E-commerce tech company. At start-up phase in the NZ and AU markets.
2) I ended up structuring a management buy-out (rather unexpected opportunity) of a client's company that is involved in asbestos abatement/management for industrial, commercial, civil and residential work across the North Island. We also now have an asbestos consulting division that is growing very rapidly and a hazardous waste management division.
3) I am involved with a French company that manufactures/distributes specialist capital equipment and consumables for the industrial and hazardous materials sectors, we are looking after distribution for the Australia and NZ regions.
Always on the look-out for good new businesses to buy/invest in...but given the commitments on my time with the development/growth of these three businesses, anything additional would probably have to be a passive investment.
