Long story short, a tenants couple has been with us for 2 years, they have 2 dogs resulted with around $10,000 worth of damage (word of advise from me, DO NOT rent to tenants with dogs you're just asking for it), disappeared and missed the first tribunal hearing, awarded $5.8k to our favour. About 6 months after got the debt collector to locate address and hearing served again, they showed up this time, to our surprise tribunal changed the sum of $5.8k to $4.7k. Frustrated as to why payment decreased (no clear explanation on order) but moved on.
At this point the debt collector didn't do much as tenants ignores all the contacts.
We went on and apply for distress warrant, assessment of financial means and attachment order (which costed us several hundred dollars on top), bailiff then managed to get half the payment for us which is good. But then since that they have relocated again, sold the car, their current vehicle is registered under their brother's name with the old address for over a year now.
We've tried request for address etc. to no avail. We do have their full name, driver licence, current car number plate (though not under their name and at old address). Is there any other way to retrieve their current address?
The debt collector we used has been pretty hard to deal with and does not respond in anyway now. If we were to find another debt collection unit, and they manage to collect some payment for us does that mean we have to share the commission with the 1st debt collection company?
We're young and very frustrated couple with bills to pay which is why we rented our part of our house in the first place, any advise on this will be greatly appreciated.
