My youngest son rang me last night with a few questions on a couple of tenancy application forms he was filling in.
It got me wondering what is normally in them (I have a PM deal with that so have never actually seen one).
This was in Christchurch but one outfit wanted to know
- list of chattels he would be bring in, and the value
Why would they want to know that? Especially the value?
- list of cars, make, model, rego number
I can understand wanting to keep a check on car numbers but what happens if you change part way through the tenancy?
This was a stand alone house - not a block of flats where you might want to tow non-tenant cars.
- 5 referees - are they worth it? Who puts down someone they haven't primed 1st?
The last query was around previous landlord reference.
When you ring the previous landlord and they say the tenant was shit but they repaid all the bond and lost a claim the tenants made at the TT do you temper it that the LL is just pissed?
He is a bit concerned at what his LL would say - basically the LL tried to take large amounts of the bond and couldn't in the end because he didn't have a leg to stand on. They also took the LL to the TT and won earlier in the tenancy.
