  • Bathroom Extractor Fans..

    Hi All

I was wondering if anyone knows any good electricians to install bathroom extractor fans in Auckland?

    Many Thanks.

Before you do that kiwipork, check out a showerdome, they are great, don't need our bathroom extractor fans at all

Agreed, shower domes are pretty good. However, if determined to do a fan, ring around, providing you know the type of wall you want to put it through, any electrician in the area should be able to give you a pretty clear estimate over the phone ?

If you do go with the fan idea, make sure
the sparky fits the electronic non-nuisance-
switching device as part of the job.

I don't like the dome idea coz the additional water vapour is not good on the lungs. Better to have proper ventilation. Check your local rag coz you don't want someone recommending someone in east Auckland when your property is in west Auckland and the van charges are extra.

              Over there Perry. Left field.

IMHO, showerdomes are excellent value for money and the best preventative maintenance you can do for a bathroom.

The centre left field is where the domes are mate.
The left field are still with floral shower curtains.

Saunas are fine, they are just hot rooms to make you sweat. Drink plenty of water.

Bollocks. There is no additional vapour under a dome. There is no steam at all as the air in the cubicle is hot.

I agree that the lungs/water vapour (not steam!)
science is dodgy, but hotter air holds more invisible
water vapour, so the amount would be the same
either way, would it not? Invisibly with a shower-
dome and visibly without it. More or less.

You are likely to have soap/shampoo/disinfectant from the shower walls airborne in your sealed shower cubicle with a dome causing the air to be recycled for 15mins for you to breath. Whereas in an open shower the heat rises and fresh air comes up from under the glass panels and door.

There is no scientific data I have to pull on how it might affect the lungs of some people, only that I'm an asthmatic and prefer the fresher air for easier breathing.

Am I right in assuming its warmer in the shower with a dome so you have the water slightly cooler than normal which may = lower power bills?
