My own home. Late 70's vintage but subsequently extended and is now very nice & up-market.
What's letting the side down, however, is the decking area outside of front door. It currently is a mix of materials. You have the traditional concrete pad - small - leading to steps that follow the side of the house.
Those are unused and instead I decided to extend said concrete deck by butting up a wooden deck to it, where new wooden stairs lead down to a garden path.
But it's looking a bit hokey with the mix of wood and concrete. I'd like the entire surface to be of one material and to look in-keeping with the rest of the house.
I've looked at tiles, but this would involve ripping out the entire existing platform - something I'm not averse to doing, mind - and boxing up a new concrete pad (slightly elevated, so on posts - not a small job) and then tiling the new concrete, which will be set slightly lower than current level to allow for tile thickness.
However a tiler has told me that exterior tiles really aren't that great. They look ok, but suffer from the weather - esp the grout) and over time don't look quite so flash.
I could re-deck with wood.
But are there any products I'm overlooking?
My everlasting respect to the person who suggests the product I ultimately choose.
