Hi there,
I am currently needing to re clad a townhouse I own in Auckland and really need some help from people who have been there or worked with these types of houses.
I have visited one specialist company that deals with everything from start to finish and the quote seemed incredible high.
There were a couple of things I didn't like with this company such as I wasn't able to choose a type of cladding as they had their preferred supplier which bothered me a bit as how was I to know if it was the best cladding for the job or not? Also the timber costs can't be calculated until the cladding was removed which I understand but it can also blow out the cost which concerns me. Finally the Architect seemed totally disinterested most likely because he had done thousands of jobs similar to this and it seemed like he would just apply the same old same old thinking to my house.
It got me thinking that about different types of cladding, building company's and the best way to go about this type of project as I am terrified of getting it wrong and also paying far too much and over capitalising on the property.
Has anyone recently been down this same track and can you provide any recommendations in regards to cladding products, building companies, Architects etc.
Any advice that can help me on the way to getting this re clad done well will be gratefully received and appreciated.
