I am wondering if someone is able to give me some advice on a
problem that needs resolving urgently.
I own a downstairs unit in a block of 6 and last October we
noticed some rotting in the eaves outside my unit which is
the underneath of the deck for the top three units. As
bodycorp members we contacted someone to get expert advice.
The outcome was that it is dangerous and needs to be pulled
down urgently.
The matter is still unresolved as they are awaiting on me
agreeing to pay $7500(equal share between the 6 units) for
them to have a new deck built.
My argument is I am totally happy paying an equal share to
remove the deck asap and also to look at building a fire
escape but they are wanting a nicer deck and I feel they are
bullying me into something I don't feel is fair when there
are cheaper options.
I feel if the upstairs units want a nicer deck they should
pay the difference between that and a fire escape bearing in
mind this is the back of the house and they already have
decks on the front of their units.
Should I pay the $7500 or am I justified in my thinking?
Thanking you in anticipation.
Kindest regards
Carrie...
