  • Lots of money and no taste

Anyone see the tv program last night: The Art of the Architect?
When Waikato couple Robin and Colleen Ratcliffe decided to have their home architecturally designed, their passion for Egypt was always going to have a significant influence.

    $6million home in Hamilton.
They should have employed an interior designer.

just watched the complete program, some of the place i liked, the marble was hideous, obviously each to their own and its the owners money so they can please themselves but neon lights at night lighting the place up is a bit naff, interesting how he mentioned the Gallagher house costing 28mil

Each to their own I guess. But I struggle to see the point in spending money on stuff which isn't function, why have big expanses of carpet in a lounge that doesn't get used, whats the point in marble esp when it replicates chip board.

Me I go for good showers, comfy beds, good views, flow, pool etc but big and flashy for the sake of big and flashy just seems like an incredible waste of money. I know its their money to spend but it did make me a bit sad to think of the wasting of money going on their when there are people who can even afford a house etc.

It seemed a bit odd to have a 400m2 room containing three chairs.
And a bathroom which looked about 300m2.
The entrance looked like a hotel lobby.
I was hoping Leftette might offer an opinion.

It seemed to me it was a statement by this guy along the lines of "See all you people who thought I'd never amount to anything - well I have!"

This is their idea of success. A fecking huge house. Ostentatious, lit up at night, imposing etc.

At some stage this owner will sell.
                    Who would buy it?
                    Describe the next owner.
