TPPA et al are no more than colonialism by another name.
Just worse, in that it has a veneer of respectability hid-
their inherent exploitative and manipulative nature.

Geez that's really scary - you can just picture NZ bankrupted and fracked till there's nothing left under such an agreement aye. Surely we're not going to sign up for that.

              cheers,

We aren't, but they are going to
sign us up without our consent.

Remember the old adage about secrecy?

                Only those with something to
                hide have anything to fear.

What does the NZ Govt and TPPA
gung-hosters have to hide & fear?

Tobacco Giants Sue Britain Over Rules On Plain Packaging

Exclusive: TPP will prevent ban on foreign ownership
ONE News can reveal that the Trans-Pacific Partnership Trade deal will stop the right to restrict sales of homes and farm land to non-resident foreigners in fellow TPP countries.

We will not support an agreement that takes away basic rights for New Zealanders"
                        - Labour leader Andrew Little

"We will not support an agreement that takes away basic rights for New Zealanders," Labour leader Andrew Little told ONE News.

"This is a big problem we have at the moment we can not have an agreement that cuts across that right to restrict sales."

                          I see Key says....

John Key accepts the TPP deal would block any future restrictions on foreign investment from partnership countries, but not China as it's not signed up.
But in the China Free Trade agreement it says they can not be singled out so how would Key impose any restriction on China that they would be happy with given 10 other nations are exempt?

...I like Labour's 5 requirements for the TPP to be workable for us. Key says Little is just being political - maybe he is but they are valid concerns and don't seem unreasonable.

                          cheers,

Andrew Little says that signing TPP could see New Zealand give up too much power.
Is Andrew serious? When does NZ ever has 'power' compared to other bigger nations?

Perhaps that's why John Key and National government have not done anything to ban foreign house buyers.

Because all along they knew they can't ban them!

My understanding is there is nothing in the China FTA which stops NZ from banning foreign buyers.
