Hey guys, have a look at amazon web services (s3).
It's a user pays system, and they have a free usage tier for a year to start you off.
There is a cool plugin for firefox too...

Ah, interesting. Completely forgot about this thread. I ended up using dropbox. I found it fitted my needs well and has a feature which appealed to me. I never lose my data. I can retrieve anything which is deleted for up to 30 days.

Still have on site back ups though.

Yes Keys, I'm old school and obsessive/compulsive. The tech guys on Press F1 http://pressf1.pcworld.co.nz/forumdisplay.php?4-PressF1 who live and breathe this stuff are very leery of cloud storage. By all means use it but understand that a massive power outage or a nuclear explosion can obliterate everything you have worked on for years.

The best plan in addition to the cloud is an extra backup on an external hard drive which you take to a different location. Update once a month or whenever you remember. Or print out the essential stuff from time to time. Nothing beats old fashioned paper and ink.

One of the simplest and best security measures for computer data is restricted physical access.
Once it's on a network - you have no idea who is looking at your data (or at your screen).
Encryption before backing up to the cloud is about the only option.

Personally I wouldn't be reliant on any one company or storage method.

Use google drive. It is really the best and you can edit it online. Dropbox is great for big files.
