From the article:
Breiter moved into her mother's shed with her daughter, and her son now sleeps inside the four-bedroom house - with seven other relatives.
She pays $300 a week for food, power and rent for the one-car garage and said she looked on Trade Me every day for an affordable rental property.
So, in this instance, the "heartless landlord" is her mother??

$300/wk for the 3 of them - all included. Maybe not so bad - depends a bit on age of children, some will eat you out of house and home.

Don't forget babysitting.

Let's do some maths then:
Less than 9% of all applications were made by tenants.
More than 91% of all applications were made by landlords.
Gotta wonder (well, we in the industry don't but......................)
