Who will be the next Labour leader?

It's a trend that I've wondered about. I wonder if the wider global constituency have become exasperated with the revolving doors that simply keep delivering two sides of the same coin, along with no real change.
Perhaps having concluded that that they are largely pawns on the political chessboard, have voters opted for the devils they don't know, on the basis that they can't be any worse than the devils they do know and they just might be better, if voters are lucky?
NZ: National / Labour and the change to younger leaders (a reaction?)
UK: Conservative / Labour and the Brexit change reaction
USA: Republicans / Democrats and the Don effect reaction
The Philippines and the Roddy Duterte effect reaction
Queensland and the return of Pauline Hanson reaction.

As you say - 'can't be any worse'.

is it a good thing ?
trudeau in canada looking a little "all style no substance" after his india trip that seemed more about photo ops, costume changes and meeting with terrorists because "they have a story to tell too"
an old school head of state would be acting more like winston churchill than princess di
focusing on talking + listening to the other head of state, then making important decisions about both countries' future relationship
but like the brits, yanks and canucks, it seems nz voters are a bit bored with the predictably steady ship approach that business + the economy enjoy
instead they want reality tv, "married at first date" politicans
high chance it'll end in tears
but at least they'll be ENTERTAINEDLast edited by eri; 28-02-2018, 10:04 AM.have you defeated them?

Voters are wising up to certain things. Things which are bad for them, in both the short and long term.
E.g. Blenglish's [smoke and mirrors] steady fiscal hand - that just happened to increase taxpayer debt from 18 to 80 billion dollars - to make him & the National Party look good.
The Labour money man screamed blue murder about that when in opposition, but suddenly, when 'in power,' we hear that looney Labour see it as a good thing.
Wily ex-politicians being courted as company directors and spokesfolks by Chairman Mao's mates, all the while 'facilitating' the sale of NZ out from under the feet of ordinary kiwis to communist interests.
Maybe, just maybe, a few voters are waking up to the behind-the-scenes-trust-us-it'll-all-be-good-for-you BS?
But I'm not holding my breath.
The revised TPPA crock looks like just another wolf in sheep's clothing, pulling its wool over the eyes of everyday New Zealanders.
Facilitated by the once-were-opposed-now-it's-a-good-thing looney Labour.
It's that sort of no-it's-bad, but now yes-it's-good two-faced hypocrisy that must really piss off all but the most closed-eyes voters.

She smiles at the media and speaks words but actually says nothing that anyone can remember.
We know she's really keen to improve the children of New Zealand and that seems to be the only topic she can talk about.
Photogenic, smiles politely and bland interviews to fawning reporters.
It's worked well so far.
Anyone seen her get angry?
Has she got a backbone?
She seems to be following the Mother Teresa, Queen Elizabeth script.

Public service pay roll is going to explode.

Originally posted by StuffAs well as a continuing rise in the number of overall public servants, the report revealed the number of PR and communications staff, hired to help control the message of their employers, rose by almost 15 per cent in 12 months. Even before National came to office in 2008 it pledged to cap the size of the public sector, with then State Services Minister Tony Ryall saying that the Helen Clark Labour Government "let the bureaucracy get out of control".
While the number of "core" public servants fell during National's nine years in office, most of the fall was sleight of hand, with hundreds of jobs reclassified from "core" to "front line". Without the reclassification, the number of public servants would have breached the cap years ago.

Where is the stardust, Jacinda?
Here's the most outrageous response from the Labour party.
A 20 yr old man sexually assaults four 16yr girls.
The Labour Party President and the General Secretary have decided not to report it to the police.
In fact, they appear proud of their actions and would do the same in the future.
So here is sexual offender who had a good time and gets away with it.
How many other victims has this sexual offender groped?
And will the offender repeat these assaults on others in the future?
Why is the labour Party protecting this offender by doing nothing?
As far as I can see, the only thing the Labour Party has done about the offender is withdraw his invite to future social activities.
Is this the new way to rehabilitate sexual offenders? - Don't invite them to Labour gatherings?
How does Jacinda feel about the White Ribbon Pledge:
"I will stand up, speak out and act to prevent men's violence towards women"

If the victim doesn't want it reported would you override their wish because YOU know better. Maybe victimise them some more.
Of course you know more than the professionals.
